After a very early start and a journey that took us about 12 hours in total we arrived in the small town of Macon south of France. We met up with our fellow riders, pit crews and sponsors that made up our group of about 19 at the hotel and then went for dinner at a local steak house.
Another early start to drive to the track which is situated about 10 minutes away for pre season practice and testing. One of Danyon’s bikes is completely new for this season, it has been supplied by Bentley Auto & Tyre Centre and needed to be run in. The weather was fantastic and we made the most of a whole days track time to blow away any cobwebs and make sure we were happy with all the equipment.

Another great meal was had by the group in the evening with everyone enjoying Rob Ledwith’s hilarious stories and listening to Scott Nicholls talking about his speedway career and his new job presenting the grand prix series on tv.

Next morning it was back to the track for half a days practice before leaving for the long trip home which incorporated seeing the sights of Paris.
What a superb purpose built speedway facility Macon is and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Many thanks to Tom Bacon for organising such a great weekend.
